What steps am I missing?

Dear Sarah,
I have a great Product called the "Teething Bib" and I have managed to get it in a couple of boutiques and also on a major website Csn Stores. I am still not getting the exposure I need to make the teething bib become a household name. I am currently advertising for sales reps. I have had a showroom rep and that has resulted in no sales for me. I guess my question to you is, what steps  am I missing for this to become the next must have …

Is the sales rep as good as their Rolodex?

For some product lines, having a showroom is really the only option if you want to build a successful wholesale business. Some stores are reluctant to buy without having seen the goods and checking for quality and styling with their own eyes – totally understandable right? Showrooms, or independent sales reps, can be a wonderful revenue source if, and only if, they have the right contacts for you……a.k.a. the sacred rolodex.  It's so important to pick a showroom or rep that has the contacts you want as well as a large …

Will buyers pay upfront?

Hi Sarah,
I am interested in taking my business wholesale to stores. Is it possible when pitching to larger stores to ask for a percentage of the order upfront and the remainder 30 days after delivery?   I am thinking about getting a rep. Thanks,

Road Reps Vs. Showrooms – is there a winner?

Deciding to hire a sales rep, be it a road rep or a showroom based sales rep can be a hard decision. I know finding a reputable one(s) can be difficult.  You are going to want to interview a lot before you make a choice.  Just because one is right for your friend, does NOT mean you are going to feel the same way.  This relationship is like a co-dependent marriage. You will both be dependent on each other to succeed and be happy.  One that needs to have romance, …

Check Please!

With the way people’s credit is these days, and boutiques (and some larger stores too) going out of business left and right……I know it can be scary to offer credit terms and forgo the instant satisfaction of a credit card payment.  But alas, some stores still refuse to pay by credit card. Now I’m not talking about the biggies…..they always pay Net 30, I’m referring to the boutiques who are asking.
I have always been willing to take Net 30 (reluctantly of course) when asked, if I can verify their current …
